18 Days Till Santa – Fauns & Sensitivity

Many blessings on your Saturday! Let’s talk about fauns and their messages about sensitivity….

Having been almost a full week into our Christmas countdown, we have encountered a variety of mythical beings and on each day have been blessed with new knowledge and even some deep healing. That trend continues today, as we invite the fauns into our lives to aid us in helping to keep our sensitivity alive.

Sensitivity is a state where we are able to sense, experience, witness, are aware of, and tune into life on a deeper level. Like an exposed nerve, we also are then placed into situations where our sensitivity can leave us vulnerable, exposed, and even in pain.

Why is Sensitivity Essential?

Too often the sensitive have been chastised and even condemned. Like a cut, the open wound stings as the air has access to our deeper selves. But, sensitivity is essential for life.

Each human being is born with an ability to attune to their environment. As infants we utilize this skill to learn and train ourselves to be wanted by the adults in our lives. They are our source of food, nurturing, safety, and future. We learn how the people respond to our cries, what they do in response to our actions, and even learn to anticipate how they will treat us based on tone of voice and facial expressions.

The innate ability to clue into the state of our caregivers determines how well we acclimate to our human experience. But over time, our sensitivity to our surroundings gets curbed. We are trained to lighten up, toughen up, and we begin to shut down those exposed parts of ourselves. However, we are at risk when we allow ourselves to become less sensitive.

Sensitivity teaches us what we need. Our sensitivity also points the way to what our species needs and wants. The ability to create a habitat that works for people must meet the needs and wants of our species. But right now, our justice system destroys lives, our medical system makes a profit off of people staying sick, and human suffering originates from our own systems. These anti-human systems must be replaced in order for us to create a society that supports, nurtures, and is safe for homo sapiens – us. This change begins with us and our sensitivities.

The Fauns & Sensitivity:

Fauns have been working with humans for centuries. Dating back to Ancient Rome, they have been known as charming, happy, woodland creatures. Involved in creativity, fertility, music, and celebration – fauns are lighthearted beings. With a love for forests, fields, and herds they play with trickster-like energy among the wilds.

When they stepped forward today, they brought that lightness and sweet demeanor to our channeling. Because discussing sensitivity might touch on those exposed and vulnerable parts of ourselves. Parts we sometimes wish would just go away. And the fauns are here to say, that when you want those parts to go away, we are understanding the situation with false messages.

Human beings are not the problem. The stagnant traditions, systems, societies, and cultures that trap us in the past are what is harming us. The ensuing harm to humans results in wounded people who lash out at the world – creating more harm. But the root cause of our collective trauma comes from old messages, old thinking, old traditions, and old ideas about life. Evolution of our personal lives and therefore the ripple effect of evolution within our collective, is what we need.

Sensitivity + Nervous System:

The exposure we experience in being sensitive points out where in life we are safe and where we presently aren’t. As a result, our nervous system is at risk. Fight or flight is a human response to perceived danger; designed by thousands of years of evolution to get us to safety.

In the moment when our amygdala (part of the brain) perceives a threat (physical or emotional), we get switched into survival mode. Where our digestion slows down, our higher brain functions pause, adrenaline and other hormones flood our system, our heart rate increases, and the blood flow shifts from our outer extremities to those essential organs. We fight, freeze, or fly.

This wonderous and extremely helpful function that we have, keeps us alive to get to a safe place and have a chance at life. But this ability is not meant for daily use. Because the prolonged impact to our organs reduces our level of health. The top 7 organs with which people have cancer are among the organs that lose that blood flow during fight-or-flight. Our nervous system was not designed to be in a state of stress everyday.

Building Our Sanctuary:

There is a lot in the world, not in our control, however we are interconnected. This means that as we begin to care for ourselves and keep sensitivity alive, pointing the way to what we need, we also impact the world. To solve our wounded nervous system, to support sensitivity, and to begin our journey towards a world where human suffering is no-longer profitable – begins right here and now with you.

Building a personal sanctuary is what we all need. To turn away from the chaotic world outside of us, and begin healing the chaos within us. To do this, we need to start designing a personal life that acts as our sanctuary within the world.

The fauns are gentle, sweet, and sensitive beings who also have moxie and strength. They are here to work with us, as we build our personal sanctuaries. To do this we…

– Learn about safety: the five elements of the human being and trust
– Allow ONLY the people who are safe and supportive into our inner circle. Remember, as you add people into your inner circle, they are adding you to theirs. Ask yourself if you are safe to be around for them.
– Develop strong friendships.
– Work to bring healing to your wounds.
– Be sensitive and utilize that sensitivity to know when you’re exposed and also to get you to move towards your sanctuary. That fight-or-flight response is designed to get you out alive and to your safe space.
– Cut out the people, places, situations, and even foods that bring you suffering.
– We are interconnected, you do not need to do this alone – find people who want sanctuary too. It’s okay to ask for help.

In life we have the power of choice. To decide if we will burn away the exposed parts of ourselves that are sensitive. Or to be courageous and vulnerable. To cut away the emotions that hurt – is to cut away our humanity; only then are we able to tolerate an anti-human system that creates, perpetuates, and profits off our suffering. To be sensitive, and use that sensitivity to design a life that is safe, supportive, and healing is how we improve our quality of life. So, the next time your sensitivity arises, don’t condemn it but instead thank it for helping you increase the level of safety in your life.

I want to take a moment to thank the fauns who have stepped forwards to help us as we build personalized sanctuaries. I also want to thank you guys who keep being sensitive – your strength of vulnerability is helping us design a better world. I look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow!
