6 Days Till Santa – Elves & the Light of Consciousness

Greetings, welcome to a day spent with the elves! Today our “mythical” creatures are the many and varied species of the elves, here to teach us how to shine the light of consciousness onto our life.

Their presence within the human world dates back to Germanic and Nordic tradition and have since spread the globe. From our seasonal helpers of Santa, to light-haired, dark, woodland, and even household elves. Displaying magical abilities, healing, trickster energies, and skills with illusions and enchantments. Elves are as complex and diverse as us.

The Light of Consciousness:

Consciousness is our awareness. When we’re going forth into life, it is influenced by how awakened we are. This awareness determines the quality of our understanding and therefore the quality of our life. The brighter, stronger, and broader the beam of our consciousness is, the more capable we are.

The elves are gifted in illusions, enchantments, and most of the elves are incapable of lying. There strength and power is rooted in their ability to see things clearly. Consciousness acts in much the same manner. Taking this moment to discuss the power of a larger consciousness and some tips on how we can develop ourselves can enable us to tap into the magic of the elves to improve the light of our consciousness.

Shadow Self:

Consciousness is what we are aware of. Which means we acknowledge that there are elements within ourselves we are ignorant, blind, or even in denial about. These subconscious parts were coined as the “shadow” by psychiatrist Carl Jung.

The totality of who we are influences our lives. What we are aware of can be consciously impacted, selected, and utilized. Like children who are taught to not hit, we are aware of anger but our consciousness means we can select what actions/words we will use.

Or maybe it’s a memory we have, that previous learning and practice means we know how to walk, read, drive, etc. Yet, it’s not just our consciousness at play in our lives. The things we aren’t aware of not only impacts the quality of our life, but it can more easily negatively impact our life.

Our subconscious or shadow self is made up of: wounds and rejected parts of ourselves. The wounds can be unresolved or denied trauma from our past. Unaddressed anger can lead to temperamental behavior that negatively impacts our relationships.

While the rejected parts of ourselves can be much more complex. For as Carl Jung said, 90% of our shadow can be golden. This golden shadow is the personality traits, innate abilities, and the hidden talents that we have repressed. These repressions and self-rejections are done in order to be: safe, wanted, and loved. As a social species we will disown parts of ourselves if we believe that it means connection with others.

Throughout history, if a culture said: women couldn’t be good as leaders, similar traits and abilities would be suppressed. Or maybe it’s a homosexual personality that will get repressed. Or the sensitivity within a “man’s man.” But it doesn’t have to be such dire and big situations. If we witness a sibling exhibiting a set of personality traits, to be unique and worth keeping, statistically the second child born will branch out in a very different direction. But that isn’t to say, that they don’t possess abilities and personality traits that the first child born has.

Our shadow self is part of our totality, it won’t just go away. No matter how much denial, disowning, or rejection we engage in. Therefore, to expand our consciousness and shine a broader light upon ourselves can take what once was subconsciously impacting our life and learn how to consciously decide its level of impact, usefulness, and even increase our level of self-love and comfortability. The less fractured we become the happier and more at peace we will feel and thus how much better our life can be.

Personal Philosophy:

Unfortunately a lot of what shapes who we become originates in our infancy. From the moment we are born, we are observing and learning from the people around us. We learn what behavior will bring help (crying) and what makes our care-takers mad (hair pulling).

Through time, our learning only grows and like all learning, we have mis-learning. As we observe humans, we come up with ideas about what it means to be human, what is expected of us, and what is and isn’t deemed as lovable/wanted. Then we start school and we learn and mis-learn so much more.

By that time we are more consciously aware in life but buried within our subconscious is our personal understanding, that personal philosophy. The story we tell about reality, life, the human experience, how it applies to the people we know, and how it applies to who we are meant to be and how we are to live – this roadmap to life has been designed. But is it guiding us to our dreams or is it leading us down detours and into roadblocks?

To shine the light of consciousness onto our lives means to face the truth of things. Remember how the elves generally can’t lie. Their ability to see clearly through illusion, to engage in deep healing magics, this comes from the root of truth and clarity.

Awakening Consciousness:

Consciousness is what we are aware of, to awaken is to become more aware; that great metaphysical term “awakening” merely means to become more aware. We can do this in a number of ways. Each way is another layer of growth and development in our lives.

Knowledge is power, because we can’t do something or know something, until we are exposed to it. To swipe away the illusions in our life can be scary, but it is only through truth that we can know what is real. Only what is real can be utilized to create strong, lasting, and fulfilling elements in our life.

We each are living life to the best of our ability, but that “if I had known” moment can mean the difference between an okay life and a great one. We can’t heal a wound until we know how. We can’t always help when we learn information about ourselves, life, or others, but we can choose if we will be open to truth and knowledge.

To strengthen, broaden, and brighten our consciousness is a choice we have control over. Our free-will means that we can roll over and go back to sleep, or if we will get up and awaken in the various areas of our lives. What this hard work does is enable us to become empowered through knowledge and tool accumulation. Now we can not only dream, but build that dream.

Ways to Shine Brighter:

– Shadow Work: Shining a light deep within.
– New hobbies: unearth your golden shadow.
– Question what you believe. Test that personal philosophy.
– Question others and their beliefs. Find what works for you.
– Any healing opportunities. Be it: body, mind, heart, spirit, or soul.
– Step back and observe yourself. What are you thinking? How are you behaving?
– Start talking to your subconscious. Allow it to talk back and show itself as it steps into the light.
– Acknowledge: as humans we are imperfect. We can make mistakes.

Community:

We began our awakening through the observation of the people around us. While not all of this was healthy learning, meaning we need to unlearn some of it, that doesn’t mean we stop benefiting from our relationships. Through connection with people not only do we fulfill the nature of our species, but we also strengthen one another.

Like candles, we have the option in life to lean over and blow people’s flames out. To break their spirit. Or we can lean over when they are in pain and help re-alight them. Choosing compassion for ourselves when we find a false-truth, unveil an illusion, or uncover a shadow aspect doesn’t just strengthen us but it helps us from hurting ourselves in the process. The same is true when we help others. By sharing knowledge, resources, compassion, and affection.

When we acknowledge that as imperfect human beings, we are here to learn and grow, we acknowledge the reality of mistakes. Generosity of spirit with others, in leaning over and sharing the flame of our light to show the worthiness of others, strengthens our community. And as a community species, we do better when we are all doing better. Even the ones who have hurt and mislead us in the past.

The elves are social, playful, and honest. They reach out and connect. These elements to their nature and personalities have not only empowered them as individuals, but it has brought them here to us in the Earth Realm. Their magical prowess and generosity of spirit has even enabled them to be worthy of working with the man of true spirit – Santa Claus. Working with them can help embolden you to engage in the courageous act of shining brighter.
