August 2025 Collective Reading – The Bonds Which Make Our Social Life

Way back at the beginning of this year I talked about the themes for 2025. Among these was the gift of energy from Spirit aligned in the vibration of transmutation. With a Universal 9 Year, endings, changes, and new beginnings can be witnessed within our collective and personal lives. In sync with this year, our energy for August is a glittering array of sunshine yellow and poppy purple, melding with our collective 2025 teal-colored energy. These combinations trigger a re-evaluation of our relationships this month; most specifically, our friendships.

Friendship is a staple to our lives, yet not all friends are the same. Some friendships do more harm than good, some get outgrown, while others only surface when we are ready. Expressing this Universal 9 Year energy, we can witness a shift in bonds, kinship, and loyalties this month. Which means changes not only in your personal life, but also how things are run globally.

Since most political, business, and even religious matters are shaped by who we like and don’t like – these seemingly innocent transmutations of friendship can have a lasting, long-term, and far-reaching influence on the institutions we thought had rusted due to immovability. If you’ve been wondering what could possibly trigger the changes foretold by people like me, or how on earth those prayers are going to be answered – look to the bonds people make.

So, while we stand back and witness the whispers of change as people get “unfriended” and “friended”, we turn back to our personal role within our collective and thus, our personal friendships.

As social beings, we need connection. Those bonds do far more than sustain us. And like all trauma we cannot heal without experiencing the opposite of what harmed us. Hence, if we have relational trauma (bad/toxic relationships), this can only be healed by relationships….this time healthy ones.

A Healthy Friendship?

Things aren’t quite as simple as exchanging friendship bracelets at recess and promising to save a seat in the cafeteria. Friendships as adults are a little more complicated. Made even more so, by the fact that what we each need from our social bonds is unique.

A healthy relationship isn’t just about love or compatibility….it’s about conscious transactions. These pillars build us a relationship that fulfills and sustains us. Even guides us to be stronger and better people in the world. So, let’s break it down….

Love: To take another as a part of self.

From this emotion and attitude/behavior that is love – we discover people who not only matter, but as a result their needs and wants matter to us. Those needs become a part of our needs. We cannot be 100% happy when they are neglected or hurt. This tie of love creates the basis for trust: “I can rely upon you to capitalize upon my best interests.” ~ Teal Swan.

We can strengthen these bonds of trust by learning the components involved in trust. Thus, broadening our vocabulary to create stronger dialogue. (Check Dr. Brene Brown’s Anatomy of Trust: BRAVING.)

Conscious Transactions:

Every human being has needs and wants. Every human being is also unique in what they need and what they have to offer. A long-lasting relationship depends upon each person getting their needs met and understanding what is being asked of them.

Our diversity of relationships means that our various needs can be met. What we get from a supportive co-worker is different than what we get from that friend who pushes us to live bigger, helps us when we’re sad, or helps us feel useful by accepting our help.

One way we can strengthen these bonds this month is to stop with the secret “guy codes” or “girl codes.” To take friendship from the abstract and unspoken rules into clear and considered communication. What do you want from this person? What do they want? What do you have to offer?

Conclusion:

Within a world built with love, through the support of Spirit and our spirit guides, one truth shines through….you matter. What you feel matters, because you matter. What you need matters, because you matter.

That being said, relationships are work, therefore they are a choice. Not everyone is a match to what you want out of life. Through intimacy (seeing into, feeling into, so as to come to understand and know someone) and through communication you can decide for yourself who is meant to be a part of your inner circle.

What this Universal 9 Year is here to teach is that all things have their time and place. Change is inherent to human life. So, take the opportunities this month to work with Creation and transmute your friendships into higher quality connections. As social beings we need this, as a member of Creation you matter….you have a right to healthy and happy friendships.
