1 day: Keeping the Christmas Spirit Alive

I believe.

  • I believe in Santa Claus.
  • I believe in love.
  • I believe in the world.

The Christmas Spirit has come to life, through the choices we have made. We have taken the time for self and family. We have approached life with a new perception and attitude. We have manifested a spirit that betters our life and our world. This new balance proves two vital things.

One- that we are able to live a life of joy.

& Two- that we as a world have the potential to live in joy.

This month I have spent each day talking about the various pieces that make up Christmas, and the holiday season. With this being Christmas Eve, and tomorrow being Christmas I want to address an idea, a dream I have.

We have spent the better part of an entire month bringing changes to our lives. This manifestation of the Christmas Spirit doesn’t need to end tomorrow.

At the first of the month, I talked about what the Christmas Spirit was. How it doesn’t come into being at midnight, December 1st, but rather is born when we as individuals create it. This means that we have the power to keep it alive. That we can carry with us the Christmas Spirit, alive, for the rest of our lives.

I am of the belief that we all have the option to live a life of joy and happiness. This existence is as precious as a snowflake. When we create the right environment, we can manifest a spirit as unique and special as a snowflake. The same can be said that if we create an unhealthy environment, we can melt that snowflake.

This Christmas Eve, I ask that you think about carrying this Christmas Spirit with you, into the next year and onwards. Can you do it?

How to Keep the Christmas Spirit Alive:

Practice balance.

During the holiday season we create a new balance between the daily grind and responsibilities, and fun and family and our self needs. As the holiday season unwinds and we return to work and the responsibilities of Earth, carry with you the same intentions that you’ve had this month. Intend and follow through with plans to enjoy time relaxing and time with friends and family. Practice living a life of healthy balance.

Practice love.

Love is a tricky feeling. It can come and leave just as swiftly. It’s the most massive emotion that we as human beings shall ever experience. For the love we have for friends and family changes. The love we have for ourselves isn’t something that we just naturally know. It’s something that we learn. That we continue to practice till the day we die.

For the love we experience comes from each moment. When we stop having moments of love, we stop experiencing it. This means we must practice love, to experience and keep it. We need to spend time in our days, each and every day, making choices that promote love.

Do you take time to love yourself? To demonstrate love for yourself? Do you make plans and follow through with them to demonstrate your love for others?

Work on healing.

We are not born healed. We are not raised perfectly. We are human and make mistakes. This means we carry with us dysfunction and scars. And they will stay until we make the intention and choose to learn how to heal.

We heal when we choose to make changes. When we release the dysfunctions from the past and learn the healthy alternatives. We heal, when we choose to. Just remember that we never need to heal alone. Ask for help and the universe will answer your call, just sometimes not how you expected.

Practice acceptance.

Yes, we will make changes. Yes, we will learn things. Yes, the rest of the world is doing the same thing. Yes, it won’t happen overnight.

This means that while we learn to love and find balance, we need to learn acceptance. Accepting that it will take time to learn and change, for you and me, and the rest of the world. And acceptance that we are, where we are. Accept the flaws, accept the differences, accept the freedoms we have. To believe, to see, to speak, in the way our soul desires. For we aren’t robots- we are human beings. Aren’t we lucky?

Practice.

Balance, love, acceptance, healing- these are all complex and mind-blowing ideas. For me too. This means that we practice. Rather than setting ourselves up to fail by striving for perfection- strive for practice.

Today I have love and acceptance, and a little healing. My balance was a little wobbly. Yesterday, my healing and balance was great. My love was good and my acceptance nice. Tomorrow, is another day.

Each day is a new moment of practice. I accept this. I love myself, for I know I try my best each day, and I know that my best changes from moment to moment.

Today is Christmas Eve, and tomorrow is Christmas. This does not mean that the Christmas Spirit must die at midnight on January 1st.

The Christmas Spirit can live for the rest of time- if we want it to.

I don’t know about you, but for myself- the Christmas Spirit is alive.
