Valentine’s Day

          For love.

For me, for you, for us and the Earth.

Love.

Four letters comprise this simple word. A word that we use liberally. A word that stretches beyond the lines on a map, the age of a person, the looks of something, and beyond the time constructed by mankind.

Today we celebrate those we love. During an age where we are pushed to move swifter and faster, we set aside today to demonstrate the love we have. To share what we hold within our hearts.

As history records, we have used Valentine’s day to mark time in our year to love those around us. Valentine’s Day cards acted as an avenue of expressing love, during a time when society frowned upon great expressions of love. Chocolates, flowers, and roses have come to signify gifts of romantic affection. & legend speaks of a man, who would later become a saint, Valentine.

Today I encourage you to swing open the doors of your heart and glow with love. Spend the day in a way that demonstrates the love you carry within your heart.

          This means that:

One- demonstrate the love you have for yourself.

Spend the day in a way that will bring a smile to your face. Whether that means getting all dressed up and going out to dinner, or sleeping in and spending the day in your pajamas. You don’t need a romantic partner to fill your day with love.

Two- demonstrate the love you have for your friends, family, and if you have one, your lover.

Today is a day marked by the celebration of love and those you love. This love includes yourself, as well as your friends and family. Take the time to shoot them a text, email, or phone call to let them know that you’re thinking of them. That you recognize the gift of their love and presence in your life.

Valentine’s Day according to society means the giving of sweats, cards, and gifts. On a personal level you can craft this holiday to be whatever will bring the most love and joy into your life.

Today is a day of love. But guess what…

So was yesterday, and tomorrow will be as well. Love comes not once a year, but each time we choose to swing open the doors of our hearts. Each time we smile, spread joy and happiness, we convey the emotion we experience with those we love. This includes ourselves.

Love yourself and choose to demonstrate this love. For when we do, not only do we fill our lives with happiness creating a masterpiece. But we improve the world around us.
